Love the ambience, love the tuna, love the service.

This was a great place with a friendly atmosphere and even better food. It specializes in Kochi (Shikoku Island) cuisine. The flame braised bonito was amazing, with a smoky flavour. The appetizer chicken was so tender and the three sauces they offer are all good. For 3 people with plenty of food a few drinks came out to around 15,000 yen, which was reasonable all considered.

Loved the atmosphere and food. I generally do not like eating seafood but, the stuff here is amazing

I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good wagyu beef. Very welcoming atmosphere and incredible service. Make reservation.

Simple english menu with great food. The staff are very warm and accommodating, the guests all did a rhythm clap to the singing waiter, and quite nice to see the food cooked at the fire pit. Expect other guests smoking inside, but that's normal in Tokyo apparently.

Japanese izakaya. Good atmosphere with Japanese style.Friendly staffs.Variety of food and beverages. Recommend grilled Kazuo fish dish.

Amazing food. Amazing place. The fish was the best. Must recommend. Its value for money, they make you sit in a traditional Japanese way. The fish is cooked on fire and it's smoked. If you found this review helpful please like it

Super friendly staff, good food, would come again. Also no one smokes indoors here anymore!

Trendy place, large open fire place, great very caudal meal. Unfortunately a lot of smoke both from the poem fire and even more so from smokers inside, so do not wear any delicate clothing, you will have to machine wash everything you wear right after coming home in order to get rid especially of the cigarette smoke.I really liked their bonito and tarako dishes and the next-to-perfect flush of their staff :)

Very authentic Japanese dining experience. Had dinner with my Japanese colleague. Good food. Carefully prepared.

Great restaurant with relaxed atmosphere but very good plates to be tasted (especially the Bonita). Not cheap, but very good value for the price!

A very busy restaurant and suggest to make reservation. Most of food and wine are from Kochi. The charcoal tosa, sanma, saba, iwashi etc were very good. The appetizers were really a big gift - chicken breast with special made dipping sauce. At around 8pm the waitress sang a song for the guests. The central barbecue with fire could be a pick for your photo album. Could have limited meal time...

Awesome bonito and wagyu seared on a grill with by using straw as the fuel for the flame. The drinks are awesome as well. The buntan sour and yuzu sour are perfect - the former with the right balance of sweet and salty with a nice alcohol kick whilst the latter sweet and sour with the same alcohol kick.

Get there early to sit in front of the fire stove. You get to see how they prepare & cook the dishes with burning straws Great entertainment and food. Ask the waiters, they have a English menu. Tried the seared bonito, chicken breast, fried yam, seaweed tempura, mackerel sushi..etcTaste ~ Enjoyed the evening here amidst a healthy meal. A small suggestion is that don't order all the dishes at once, else all of it will turn up almost together.Cost ~ Average, Spent ¥9000+ for two, comes with 3 drinks

Very special place. Very warm and welcoming. Service is extraordinary. Food is authentic. Most of it burnt and smoke on high flames of burning straw. The Wagio, Bonito and even the chicken are burnt\smoked outside and rear on the inside. Tastes are simple and traditional. Portions are good size and prices are reasonable. Recommended.

😋 Food, 1 of the best izakaya in Roppongi

A really short menu. Few options and nothing amazing except for the grilled Tuna that is SPECTACULAR. Super recommended. If you can sit at the counter is great so you can see the preparation process. Please stop by and enjoy this delicatessen. Staff is friendly but I felt a little pressured about ordering and time as well.

Authentic Japanese experience, excellent service and some of the best food I’ve ever had, at an extremely reasonable price. I went twice in one week, with coworkers and alone. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great dinner in the Roppongi area.

Great place with delicious food. :)

Amazing food, especially the grilled tuna! however, food is quite expensive and they even add a cover charge of 500 yen. staff is okay but I didn't feel welcomed and felt I need to order more or leave.. the grill is a nice experience but still not sure if it was worth it ;-)

The katsuo tataki here is to die for, and even better, they’re open til early morning on weekends so you can go after your night out. Seriously, amazing food.

I’ve been traveling to Japan for 15+ years and this is one of the most unique, delicious restaurants that I’ve ever been to. The bonito is fantastically smoky and delicious. The fried river shrimp are also exceptional. Best of all, the exceptional service will keep me coming back for years to come!

"warayaki" is when you cook food over burning dried rice stalks, it gives a great smoky flavor to both fish and meat, one of my favorite Izakaya. It's a chain, and some locations are better than others due to the skill and training of the kitchen staff. This one in the heart of Roppongi is one of the best in Tokyo. I highly recommend the Katsuo (Bonito) and Chicken.

Tasty! Food and service is excellent.

Good but really long wait line.

I have been to Warayaki-ya many times. Last visit was disappointing with the expensive Wagyu beef mostly fat and chewy
Room 1007
We arrived around 1 am on a weekday, the place was empty, staff was very nice and attentive also, but, over anything else the food... the food was incredible! One of the best food experiences I’ve ever had! Amazing pairings of seaweed and asparagus, walnuts infused in a strong rice flavor to pair with Camembert cheese and I think Yuzu jam, and specially the roasted eel was very very good. Many layers of flavor on each dish, very delicate combinations, you put a bit in your mouth and fly... just very worth the experience!

Specialty straw flame-grilled izakaya in a quiet little alley in Roppongi. Intense smokey flavors from the grill, but soft and succulent texture on the inside. Great service and staff, and an Eng menu!

Very poor service. Smoking everywhere. Very unprofessional

The food quality doesn’t match the price. Ordered the most expensive wagyu beef and that’s the fattest beef I ever had, and couldn’t even finish. Also, the ramen is too salty and couldn’t even finish half.

It is usually quite busy so I had to wait that 20 minutes before entering. There are all kinds of meat (even horse) and quite a few smoked ones. The recommended ones are also fish. The place is cozy, but you can enjoy your food without problems. The attention is very good and while you wait sitting down, you can watch the chefs cooking and throwing some flames from the grill.I ordered a Hachikin Chicken (I think that's the translation) with a beer and for dessert an ice cream :ice_cream: (very good presentation). The prices are intermediate, it's worth the visit.

Made a reservation for dinner but we had to leave immediately after we finished our food because there was another booking! The restaurant should inform guests in advance if there were two sittings. Wouldn't have come here if I knew because we were with friends visiting Tokyo and wanted to have a good chat over dinner. Food wasn't too bad. But being asked to leave abruptly wasn't nice considering that we paid 28,600 yen for dinner.

So I missed the tataki dish in shikoku when I visited in Oct 2017. Stumbled on this place quite literally next to candeo hotel as peopel were crowded. Sit at the table counter and experience the straw searing of meat .. loved it.
WEI HUANG
Food was not bad. We ordered very common food and drink, taste average.
Damir Dizdarevic
The food is ok but nothing special. Its quite touristy. Orders take quite long. Service is not great for japanese standards.
HR Hiranand
Very friendly staff, fun place, amazing cooking with straw... loved the smoking, but food was average, especially the signature dish- straw cooked bonito... it was very fishy, even for me...
Yevhen Lui
One of the best places to feel the touch of traditional Japanese cuisine! Very nice, cozy and vibrant atmosphere. Recommend for foreign travellers in Tokyo.
Burcu Eke
Overall very good experience. It was a little more pricey and had a shorter menu compared to the other izakayas we went in Tokyo, but the building and staff are wonderful.
Scott Mackelprang
This place had the most elaborate and authentic Japanese meal I've ever had. I was with Japanese friends, so it helped me through a lot of the traditional things that come with eating in a place like this. If you want high quality Japanese food, this is the place for you.
Daniel Chen
Great food and service! Super cozy and decent selection of alcohol. Enjoy a show from the bar as well.
CHRISTOS ARNAOUTOGLOU
The ambient of the restaurant is very warm, the service great but the food is just ok...
Eli Krahenbuhl
Amazing. A warm, cozy, inviting atmosphere was only outdone by the quality of fish and perfect cooking. Very short menu but I would assume all are outstanding based on the eel and straw seared bonito we had. Priced about right for the quality and portion sizes.
Frank O'Carroll
We were looking for a menu with non meat options and this fit the bill well. Good fish dishes and they even do the yakisoba specially without pork for us. Staff helpful and spoke English. Features an entertaining impressive flaming grill.
Denise Castro
Nice environment. My bf ordered the chicken and it was a little raw to our taste he asked if it was cooked the waiter said yes.. so he ate it and I helped.. thanks to the universe we didn't get sick:) definitely order multiple dishes
Sebastien Gaboriau
Bad quality ingredients, very average service. Popular venue because of its convenient location. Will not come back.
Kwok Martin
Worth the wait. Walked in without reservation was told to come back in an hour, totally worth it. Their grilled items would be a must try, definitely try get sit on the bar table right in front of the big grill, you will feel the heat. Great restaurant will come back.

One of my favorite spots in Tokoy. Awesome, delicious food and lovely people. Cosy atmosphere
